The short version
  • Run by chef Arnas Petronis — the name reads 'by Arnas' and nods to cooking in his grandmother's barn kitchen.
  • Creative, well-balanced sharing plates that play like an informal tasting menu.
  • A very small, unpretentious room where the chef often presents the dishes himself.
  • Recognised with a Michelin Bib Gourmand; reservations are essential.

A chef's bistro built for sharing

BARN bistro — styled B'ARN, a play on 'by Arnas' — is the personal project of chef Arnas Petronis, tucked into the Old Town at Visų Šventųjų g. 7. The name also nods to his grandmother's countryside barn near Zarasai, where childhood summers spent cooking over open fire shaped his cooking. The result is a very small, very welcoming space where you feel less like a customer and more like a guest in the chef's home.

The food is the draw: inventive, colourful plates with influences gathered from travels through Japan, Thailand, Mexico and the Levant, designed to be shared across the table so a meal builds into something close to a tasting menu. Diners consistently single out the creativity and the fresh, complex flavours, and the chef often presents and explains each course himself.

Good to know

The space is genuinely tiny, so reservations are essential — book ahead rather than hoping to walk in. Recurring favourites include the dorada ceviche, tuna tartare, tostadas, halibut and churros, though the menu shifts with the chef's whims and the season, so treat any dish list as a guide rather than a fixed card.

BARN bistro has been recognised in the Michelin Guide Lithuania with a Bib Gourmand for good value cooking. Confirm current opening hours and book directly with the venue before you go, as a small kitchen like this keeps tight, changeable service times.

Best for
a creative, intimate dinner of shared plates.
  • Reservations essential — the room is very small.
  • Michelin Bib Gourmand; menu changes frequently.
