What to expect

Ajomama is a small, family-run restaurant at Žirmūnų g. 68A in the Žirmūnai district, north of the centre, that started life as a food truck and grew into a permanent home for its signature dish: the stuffed baked potato. The atmosphere is cosy and personal, with the owners' warmth a big part of the appeal, and portions are generous enough to leave you genuinely full.

You build your own plate: a baked potato loaded with a wide range of cold toppings, slow-cooked meats, herring or bacon, plus sauces of your choosing. Popular orders include the potato with pulled pork (bulvė su plėšyta kiauliena) and the version with bacon (bulvė su šonine), while cheese fans go for the dishes finished with melted Raclette poured over the top. Vegan and vegetarian options are easy to put together. A few specialty items are dine-in only, so it's worth eating in to get the full menu.
